If you are a Formula 1 lover, this is going to be pretty excited for you. Auction house RM Sotheby’s has listed a custom-built slot car racetrack at their upcoming auction event in Abu Dhabi on 30 November. The Formula 1 slot car racetrack is a 1:32 scale model of an original design and is handcrafted out of wood.
The racetrack is built by Slot Mods Raceways, a Detroit, Michigan-based company. The firm is specialized in creating bespoke handcrafted raceways. In the past 10 years, Slot Mods has built tracks for both corporations and private individuals including Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Audi and Toyota. The racetrack up for auction was commissioned by Formula 1 and was shipped to every F1 Grand Prix during 2018 season. It was used by many drivers and important figures of the Formula 1 Paddock Club.
Handcrafted meticulously by artists at Slot Mods, this custom-built racetrack took about three to six months to complete. This beautiful 1:32 scale wooden raceway features hand-painted race fans, bespoke buildings and vegetation along the circuit. Besides that, the track has built-in electronic lap timing and on-track cameras. This Formula 1 slot car racetrack by Slot Mods Raceways is designed for two cars. They can race against each other, thus adding little more fun to the action.
For easy shipment, the race track can be dissembled into two modular sections. Slot Mods also provide after sales service and installation as well. The profits from the auction will benefit the Reaching the Last Mile Fund. It is inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s global health campaign. It is a joint initiative with the Bills Gates Foundation focused on eradicating preventable diseases in most vulnerable communities in the developing world. People in countries like Ethiopia, Sudan, Chad, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Yemen will be benefited.
