Mr. Ma, a 40 year old man from Shunde District, Guangdong province, China is into computer hardware maintenance industry for the past 20 years. Using all that experience and his keen interest for trendy technology products, he has transformed his coffee table into a 32-inch large Tablet PC.
Taking advantage of Chinese New Year vacation, Mr. Ma spent half a month and about 8,000 yuan (US$1,282) to complete this DIY project.
This homemade Tablet PC runs on Android 4.1 operating system, has a storage capacity of 6G, 1GB RAM of memory, resolution 1920 × 1080 and is powered by a dual-core 1.8GHz processor.
The DIY coffee table Tablet PC provides access to Internet, chat, online shopping, music and videos. It is equipped with a sound system and few USB ports as well. Before the Tablet PC is connected to the power, it looks like an ordinary coffee table and as soon you turn on the power it is transformed into a large flat-screen computer.
Recently he found his first customer in his friend who commissioned the IT geek to make a coffee table Tablet PC for himself. Mr. Ma hopes to start commercial production of his own products some day.
