Dutch couple to drive to South Pole in solar-powered vehicle made from plastic waste

Well, most of us dispose plastic into the trash can after use but for a Dutch couple it has turned out to be the most valuable resource for their project. In an effort to promote zero waste living, Liesbeth and Edwin ter Velde of the Clean2Antarctica project will be making an adventurous journey all the way to South Pole. The couple will be driving Solar Voyager, a solar-powered vehicle which is built from recycled plastic waste.

Charles Bombardier.com, a concept vehicle factory has collaborated with Slovak Republic- based industrial designer Jan Bujnak to develop a single-passenger solar-powered driverless boat. The Kayak is propelled by an innovative biomimetic propulsion system that imitates the movement of a dolphin’s tail. Dubbed The Sirène concept, the personal watercraft comes with a driverless computer system which allows the passenger to sit back and relax while cruising around the lake.

TAG Heuer, a well renowned manufacturer of premium watches, sunglasses and occasional high-end smartphones has unveiled the world’s first phone which comes with perpetual power reserve. Christened as Meridiist Infinite, the luxury phone was introduced at Baselworld 2014, one of the world’s largest trade shows of watch and jewellery industry which concluded last week in Basel, Switzerland. The smartphone has been created as a result of collaborative effort between Atelier Haute Communication and Sunpartner Technologies. The TAG Heuer Meridiist Infinite features Wysips Crystal placed between the sapphire glass and the LCD display which incorporates transparent photovoltaic technology to charge itself using solar power and artificial light source also.
