American singer Pharrell Williams have teamed up with design and technology studio Pentatonic to create an eco-friendly cutlery set. Named Pebble, the reusable and portable cutlery set is made from recycled CDs and food packaging. The product is a result of collaboration between Pentatonic and Pharrell Williams’s creative brand called ‘I Am Other.’ Pentatonic is a design studio that create sustainable products that can be recycled over and over again.
The Pebble cutlery set consists of a knife, a fork, chopsticks, spoon and a straw. All these items can be folded down and stored in a colorful storage case. Interestingly, this compact case comes with a custom clip so that one can carry it outside easily. Each piece from the set can be hanged solo by the clip as well. The Pebble cutlery set is the first product in Otherware, the joint venture between the Pentatonic and Pharrell Williams.
The Pebble cutlery set is currently the need of the hour. During this period of coronavirus pandemic, it is safe and hygienic to use your own cutlery when going outside to eat or drink. According to Pentatonic, it provides peace of mind in regards of personal hygiene. Besides that, it can save lots of single-use plastic that ends up in landfills. Also, most single-use plastic ends up in our vulnerable oceans and threaten marine life.
The Pebble cutlery set by Otherware is created using recycled CDs and upcycled food packaging. Whereas, the utensils are made from titanium coated steel. Gladly, the cutlery set can be recycled again and the materials can be kept in circulation for further use. Consumers can sell them back to Pentatonic as well which will make new products out of it. You can get your eco-friendly Pebble cutlery set for a price of €55 ($62) from here.
