If you are an avid traveler and love to explore different places, we have a smartwatch that‘ll appeal to the adventurer in you. Suunto, Finland-based watch company has unveiled its first premium smartwatch designed specifically for travelers who want to keep track of their adventures. Christened Kailash, the timepiece will come with a companion iPhone app called the “7R”. Both the name of watch and its app has their own significance: Kailash is a holy Tibetan peak that has never been climbed while 7R is short for DRD4-7R, a gene associated with the hunger to explore (also known as adventure gene).
Like basic smartwatches, Suunto Kailash provides message and alert notifications on the watch dial. However, as it is designed for travelers, the smartwatch does much more than that to assist the wearer during his journey. Just connect your Suunto Kailash watch to 7R App on your iPhone via Bluetooth and keep yourself updated with ongoing travel course, number of countries you’ve visited, total distance traveled and days of your adventure trip.
The watch will use 7R App to capture your travels and visualize them on a map with photos and highlights of your adventures. You can share the moments of your trip with your friends by taking a snapshot of your Adventure Timeline. The smartwatch uses GPS to automatically update your time, location, calendar data and sunrise/sunset times. Additional features include an in-built pedometer, compass and barometer.
Handmade in Finland, the smartwatch comes with a glass fiber composite case, corrosion-resistant grade 5 titanium bezels and polished sapphire crystal forms the watch glass. The Suunto Kailash smartwatch is water resistant up to 100m and as per claims of the company it offers a maximum battery life of 10 days. Available in four color options of bronze, slate, carbon and silver, the wearable will come with matching soft silicone straps. The Suunto Kailash smartwatch is priced at $950 and will be offered in a modern, weatherproof container made of black anodized aluminum.
